According to the Madrona Mom’s, the other morning as a 76 year old man was on a morning walk he was assaulted near the Madrona Spectrum Dance Theater. He saw a man approaching him who he had seen in the area a few times in the past couple years. He is young male between the ages of 18-20 who appears to be Hispanic, he as also been seen “air boxing” while walking along Lake Washington Blvd.

The next thing the man remembers is waking up on the ground with a woman helping him and asking if he was OK. She told him that the man had hit him and then ran off. It is assumed that she called the police. When the man began walking back home, he saw police officers detaining the man who had hit him. He approached the police officer and the man who hit him and identified the man. It is reported that he got an “odd look in his eyes” and punched the police officer in the mouth and began to run off with the policeman chasing after him. A man who was driving in a truck saw his and he yelled for the man to “get down on the ground” and the man obeyed. The police were then able to detain him.
Police and medics arrived on the scene to evaluate the man and take a statement. The man suffered a swollen jaw & nose, scrapes on his knees and elbows, and soar ribs (it is not known if it is from punches or falling to the ground).
Thanks go out to all the people who helped the man. It important as a community we help each other out to keep the community a safe place for all!
